Back from barcamp montreal 3.

I was last Saturday at barcamp montreal 3 so I guess I should give some feedbacks on my first Canadian geek event.
The event in it self was pretty well organized, free lunch and drinks, rather good equipements… congrats to Simon Law and his team for the organization. Ok maybe next time put the heater on, a lot of people were freezing there… including me.
I guess I will not make friends by saying that most of presentations were boring but as a matter of fact they were. Hopefully the barcamp spirit was there and some very interesting talks were held in the back (open social, google privacy issues, refactoring, UI…)
To conclude I would say that this was a nice event not tremendous but instructive. The tech/geek scene here is pretty small compare to most of the biggest city in Europe and there is no real web 2.0 success coming from Quebec/Ontario. Austin hill mentioned as well that venture capital was also not so dynamic.
